Our friend, Tracy Mayrello, has spent several months preparing to open her printmaking workshop. A master printmaker with sixteen years experience, she is ready to open Creekside Studio at Canopy, a creative hub in East Austin. While Creekside will be primarily for printmaking -- a place where Mayrello can continue to work with artists to publish fine art prints, she wants it to be more. She envisions a space where a handful of creatives can make and exhibit prints and drawings.
For the upcoming grand opening, Mayrello invited Gallery Shoal Creek to exhibit works from our collection while she gets the press up and running. We selected woodcut prints by internationally renowned artist Karen Kunc to showcase throughout September.
Kunc travels extensively as well as works from her own workshop, Constellation Studio, which she established in 2013 in a refurbished and historic building in Lincoln, Nebraska. During September, she will welcome a Polish artist for a residency in Lincoln. Then, she will depart for four weeks in Serbia. Whether in her own studio or working abroad, Kunc strives to pass on her passion for print, paper and bookmaking.
Join us for the celebration on Friday, September 6, 7 to 9 pm
